Tree & Shrub Care in Bismarck

Tree & Shrub Care: Feeding, insect control and disease management for the trees and shrubs that frame your Bismarck home, timed to the season so they stay full, green and healthy through hard winters.
Trees and shrubs in Bismarck work hard. They face zone 4 winters, drying winds across open hills and bluffs, alkaline soil that locks up iron, summer drought stress, and a short season to recover. The common signs of stress here are yellowing leaves with green veins on maples and birches, which is iron chlorosis from the alkaline soil, winter burn on evergreens, and dieback on the exposed side of a tree.
Our program feeds trees and shrubs by deep-root injection so nutrients reach the root zone under the lawn instead of feeding the grass, and we add chelated iron where chlorosis is the issue. Insect control targets what actually attacks landscape plants in the Bismarck-Mandan area: aphids and scale on shrubs, spider mites on evergreens in dry summers, and borers in stressed trees. Disease management covers the fungal leaf spots and blights that show up in wet spring weather.
Ash trees deserve special attention. Emerald ash borer has now been found in North Dakota, and green ash is one of the most common yard and street trees in Bismarck. We assess ash trees for signs of borer activity and advise on protection or replacement planning honestly.
Evergreens get a dormant treatment in late fall to reduce winter burn, and we check mulch depth, watering and trunk damage on every visit, because most tree problems start with those basics.

Questions about this service
Why are my maple leaves yellow with green veins?
That is iron chlorosis, common in Bismarck because the alkaline soil locks up iron the tree cannot absorb. Chelated iron applied to the root zone corrects it, usually with visible improvement the same season.
Should I be worried about my ash tree?
Emerald ash borer is a serious threat to ash across the region. We assess ash trees for the signs, such as canopy thinning, woodpecker activity and D-shaped exit holes, and give you a straight recommendation on protection or planning for replacement.
Why do my evergreens brown over winter?
Winter burn: the needles lose water to wind and sun while the ground is frozen and roots cannot replace it. A late-fall anti-desiccant, deep watering before freeze-up and mulch over the roots all help.
Do you prune or remove trees?
Our service is the health side: feeding, insect and disease control, and assessment. For pruning and removal we will point you to a qualified arborist and coordinate the timing with your care plan.
When is the best time to feed trees in Bismarck?
Spring at bud break and again in September when roots are actively growing. Deep-root feeding puts nutrients where the tree can use them instead of into the lawn above.
How much does tree and shrub care cost in Bismarck?
Tree and shrub care cost depends on the number and size of plants, whether they need pest, disease, or feeding treatment, and how severe the problem is. We quote after inspecting the plantings, with no contract. Call (701) 751-4442.
When should trees and shrubs be treated in Bismarck?
In Bismarck, treatments are timed to the pest and disease cycle through spring and summer, with feeding that supports plants before winter. The right timing depends on the species and the problem. We inspect and schedule accordingly. Call (701) 751-4442.
What are signs my trees and shrubs need treatment?
Watch for spotted or curling leaves, visible insects, thinning canopy, early leaf drop, or branch tip dieback. These point to pests, disease, or stress that treatment can address. Our Bismarck team inspects the plants and identifies the cause. Call (701) 751-4442.
